“Finally, all of you be one minded, compassionate; have brotherly love, be merciful, be humble;
not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you
were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. For ‘He who would love life and see good
days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away
from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the
righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against those who do
evil.’
“And who is he who will harm you if you are eager to do what is good? But even if you should suffer
for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. Furthermore, do not be afraid of their threats, nor be
troubled, but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone
who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good conscience,
that when they defame you as evildoers, those who slander your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed.
For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being
put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.” (I Peter 3:8-18)
«Finalmente, sean todos de un mismo sentir, compasivos, amándose fraternalmente, misericordiosos,
humildes; no devolviendo mal por mal,
ni maldición por maldición, sino por el contrario, bendiciendo;
sabiendo que ustedes fueron llamados para que heredasen bendición. Porque
“El que quiera amar la vida,
y ver días buenos, refrene su lengua de mal, y sus labios no hablen engaño; apártese del mal, y haga
el bien;
busque la paz, y sígala. Porque los ojos del Señor están sobre los justos, y sus oídos atentos
a sus oraciones, pero el rostro del Señor está contra
aquellos que hacen el mal.”
«¿Y quién es aquel que les podrá dañar, si ustedes siguen el bien? Mas también si alguna cosa padecen
ustedes por la justicia, son bienaventurados. Por tanto, no se amedrenten por temor de ellos, ni se
turben; sino santifiquen al Señor Dios en sus corazones, y estén siempre preparados para responder con
mansedumbre y temor a todo el que les demande razón de la esperanza que hay en ustedes; teniendo una
buena conciencia, para que en lo que murmuran de ustedes como de malhechores, sean avergonzados los que
calumnian su buena conducta en Cristo. Porque mejor es que padezcan haciendo el bien, si la voluntad de
Dios así lo quiere, que haciendo el mal.
«Porque también Cristo padeció una sola vez por los pecados, el justo por los injustos, para llevarnos a
Dios, siendo a la verdad muerto en la carne, pero vivificado por el Espíritu.»
